CitoVac

Vacuum-assisted cold mounting system, ensuring complete resin penetration into porous specimens to eliminate bubble defects entirely.

The CitoVac is Struers' vacuum-assisted mounting system designed specifically for cold mounting applications — particularly suited for heat-sensitive specimens, porous materials, and precision analysis where the original microstructure must be preserved. By drawing all air from specimen pores in a vacuum environment (<50 mbar) before introducing low-shrinkage epoxy resin, the CitoVac ensures the resin fills every fine pore uniformly, preventing bubble defects from affecting subsequent observation results. The entire workflow is simple and intuitive, making it the ideal choice for ceramics, powder metallurgy, and electronics board cross-section analysis.

Key Features

  • Vacuum down to <50 mbar — completely removes air from all pores
  • Compatible with 25, 30, and 40 mm mould sizes
  • No heating process — fully preserves original specimen microstructure
  • Compatible with low-shrinkage resins — ensures accurate cross-section dimensions
  • Transparent acrylic vacuum chamber — fully visible throughout operation
  • Compact lightweight benchtop design — saves laboratory space

Applications

  • Ceramic and powder metallurgy porous specimen cross-section preparation
  • Heat-sensitive material mounting (polymers, composites)
  • Electronics board and printed circuit board cross-section analysis
  • Casting shrinkage and porosity defect analysis
  • Dental materials and medical implant cross-section research
